Triple P (Positive Parenting Program)

We have been approached by Sarah Woodhead who is currently running a research project as part of her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The University of Manchester. Her research project is a survey for parents of adolescents aged 11-17 years with type one diabetes based on Triple P (Positive Parenting Program).

"Triple P" is used worldwide and has over 30 years of supporting clinical evidence. It has already been adapted to support parents whose children are living with a range of difficulties, for example, parents of children with asthma. To date Triple P has not been adapted for use with parents of children with Diabetes.

The aim of the research is to explore whether the Triple P (positive parenting program) is acceptable to parents of adolescents with type one diabetes mellitus. It also aims to look at barriers to involvement in a parenting program. The study has received ethical approval from the University of Manchester and the Diabetes UK research department and she is currently recruiting parents to take part. The survey is web based and can be accessed by parents anywhere in the UK. A paper based version is also available if required.

Further information and the survey can be found at the following web address: www.diabetesandparenting.org.uk/survey
